The government has taken a major step to stop the incidents of mobile theft of the ever growing mobile. If a mobile IMEI number is tampered with and found guilty, it could be a three-year jail.
In this regard, the Department of Telecommunications had issued notification on August 25. It was said in the notification issued by the Department of Telecommunications that it was illegal for any mobile to deliberately tamper with it or to alter or alter the international mobile device identification number IMEI number.
Raising this step can prove to be a ray of help related to fake IMEI numbers and help in the detection of stolen and lost devices.
This new rule has been made by combining section 7 and section 25 of the Indian Telegraph Act. This rule has been given the name of the Mobile Equipment Identification Number in the Prevention of Misconduct Rules 2017.
Meanwhile, the Department of Telecom is also implementing a new system under which all services of lost and stolen mobile phones of any network can be discontinued, even if its SIM or IMEI number can be changed.
